Weekend Events for South Florida Homeowners & Residents, October 17-18, 2026
One of the things I love most about South Florida is that the calendar is never empty. By mid-October the weather has finally turned, the evenings are cool enough to sit outside, and the weekend lineup fills up with farmers markets, festivals, and community gatherings that make this place feel like home. Whether you have owned here for years or you just moved in last month, this weekend has plenty of ways to get out, meet your neighbors, and actually enjoy the season.
From a community walk in Deerfield Beach to a pickle festival in Boca Raton and one of the biggest art fairs in Broward County, here is what I would put on my calendar for the weekend of October 17 through October 18.
1. West Palm Beach GreenMarket: Saturday Morning in Centennial Square
Saturday, October 17 • 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM • Centennial Square, 100 N Clematis St, West Palm Beach
If you have not made the trip up to the West Palm Beach GreenMarket yet, this is a great weekend for it. It is one of the biggest and most well-known markets in the county, set right in Centennial Square on Clematis Street, and it runs Saturdays from October through May. You will find local produce, fresh flowers, artisan food vendors, and live music, all with the energy of downtown West Palm behind it. It is a longer drive from Delray or Boca, but worth doing at least once on a cooler October morning. City of West Palm Beach GreenMarket page. Free entry.
2. Lake Worth Beach Waterside Farmers Greenmarket: Saturday Morning
Saturday, October 17 • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM • Northeast base of the Lake Worth Beach bridge, along the Intracoastal
The Waterside Farmers Greenmarket in Lake Worth Beach runs every Saturday from October through April, right along the Intracoastal at the base of the bridge. You will find fresh local produce, artisan breads, baked goods, and a relaxed waterfront vibe. It is one of those Saturday rituals that makes owning a home here feel like a small daily vacation. Pick up some produce, grab a coffee, and walk the beach after. Greenmarket details. Free entry.
3. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Deerfield Beach
Saturday, October 17 • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM • Constitution Park & Arboretum, 2841 W Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach
Deerfield Beach teams up with the American Cancer Society for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, a non-competitive 3-to-5 mile community walk at Constitution Park. It is free to join, it is family friendly, and it raises real money for breast cancer research and patient services. If you have been looking for a way to plug into your community, this is a meaningful one, and Constitution Park is a beautiful spot for a morning walk. Register with the American Cancer Society. Free to join; donations welcome.
4. Riverwalk Fall Festival: Free Family Fun in Fort Lauderdale
Saturday, October 17 • 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM • Esplanade Park, downtown Fort Lauderdale
The 10th Annual Riverwalk Fall Festival in Fort Lauderdale is a free family event with fall-themed games and activities, live entertainment, and food and craft vendors in Esplanade Park along the New River. It is the kind of low-key Saturday afternoon that reminds you why a town with a real community calendar is worth so much. If you are house hunting in Broward County at all, this is a good weekend to spend a few hours there and feel the neighborhood out. Riverwalk Fall Festival details. Free admission.
5. South Florida Pickle Festival in Boca Raton
Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18 • 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM • Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, 20405 Amphitheater Circle, Boca Raton
Yes, a whole festival about pickles, and it is as fun as it sounds. The South Florida Pickle Festival at South County Regional Park brings together pickle vendors, food trucks, live music, and family-friendly activities for a weekend that is equal parts quirky and community-focused. It is a short drive for Boca and Delray families, and a great way to spend a fall afternoon outdoors. Grab your tickets ahead so you are not waiting in line. Pickle Festival details and tickets. Ticketed event.
6. 39th Annual Las Olas Art Fair in Fort Lauderdale
Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18 • 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM • E Las Olas Blvd (SE 6th Ave to SE 11th Ave), Fort Lauderdale
One of the biggest art events in South Florida takes over Las Olas Boulevard this weekend, with 300-plus artists selling painting, sculpture, jewelry, and photography outdoors. Admission is free, the boulevard closes to traffic for the event, and it is a fantastic way to spend a Saturday or Sunday browsing original art on one of the most walkable streets in Broward County. Las Olas Art Fair details. Free admission.
7. Boca Green Market at 5th Ave Shops: Sunday with Live Music
Sunday, October 18 • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM • 5th Ave Shops, 1954 NE Fifth Ave, Boca Raton
Boca's original downtown market, the Boca Green Market at 5th Ave Shops, runs Sundays through early May, and this one features live music along with local farmers, prepared foods, and a friendly neighborhood feel. It is the smaller, more boutique counterpart to the big market at BRiC, and a perfect Sunday morning stop before the rest of your weekend kicks in. If you are comparing areas to buy in, a Sunday morning at a market like this is a great way to get a feel for the community. Boca Green Market. Free entry.
8. Boca Farmers Market at BRiC: Sunday Morning Staple
Sunday, October 18 • 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM • Boca Raton Innovation Campus (BRiC), 4950 Communication Ave, Parking Lot H
The Boca Farmers Market at BRiC is one of the largest and most consistent markets in Palm Beach County, running year-round every Sunday with 80 to 90 vendors. Local farmers, organic produce, fresh flowers, artisan cheeses, baked goods, and a lively community atmosphere. It is the kind of market where you sample honey, meet neighbors, and leave with way more than you planned to buy. If you have not been yet, this weekend is a good one to start. Boca Farmers Market. Free entry.
9. Bedner's Fall Festival: A Real Farm Day in Boynton Beach
Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18 • 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM • Bedner's Farm Fresh Market, 10066 Lee Rd, Boynton Beach
For a real fall day out, Bedner's Farm Fresh Market in Boynton Beach runs its annual Fall Festival every weekend through early November. Pumpkin patch, corn maze, tractor rides, a petting zoo, and seasonal food vendors. Weekend admission is $24.99 per person and kids under 2 are free, so it is priced like a full day out, not a casual stop. It is about as close to a proper autumn farm experience as you will find in Palm Beach County, and it is a hit with families. Bedner's Fall Festival details. Ticketed event.

Why local events matter when you are house hunting
I tell every buyer I work with the same thing: before you decide on a neighborhood, go spend time there on a regular day. Visit the farmers market on a Saturday morning. Walk a downtown on a Sunday afternoon. Grab coffee at a local spot and see how it feels.
The communities in this roundup all have different personalities, from the big-market energy of West Palm Beach to the waterfront market vibe in Lake Worth Beach, the family festival crowd in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach, and the arts-and-culture feel of downtown Fort Lauderdale. The only way to know which one fits you is to get out there and experience them.
That is what this weekly guide is for. I will keep it updated with real, verified events so whether you are settling in or just exploring, you have a reason to get out of the house and see what makes each community special.
